Weak signal

I have cameras mounted on the outside of a metal building, the signal is very weak to where the camera is off and on,  the control box and router are about 40 ft from the cameras.  Would a wifi extender mounted close to the cameras be helpful?  The control module and the router are connected via ethernet cable

  Could you please tell us the model number of your system and camera? Then we can give you a solution accordingly.
  You can find the model number on the backside of the DVR/NVR/camera, or on the side of the camera.
  Here are some pictures to show you how to find the model number.
