NVR vs. DVR vs. WIFI system
To protect your health and family from danger, investing in a security system is the right decision for you. But there are too many different security systems, how can we choose? DVR kit, NVR Kit, and Wifi kit. Base on the description you can not get the difference If it is really satisfied my requirement? How can we choose? Which items do we need to consider? Let me share with you some tips for your choice.
Distance:
For the NVR kit, If you have the ability to LAN connection, the distance is no limit. If POE connection with good cable quality, It can support more than 150 meters, with POE extender, It is easy to longer to 200 meters. For DVR kit, If good quality cable it can support around 100 meters, Some product clarifies it can support 500-800meter, but the cable is extremely expensive, we did not suggest. For WIFI kit, It limit by the WiFi signal, Although it clarifies it can support more than 100 meters, we suggest less than 50m, and if the environment is hard, we suggest less than 30m.
Installation:
DVR and NVR kit need the wire to connect the receiver and cameras. So you need a basic skill for the wiring, make sure it is not too bad. The wifi kit only needs power for the cameras. So it is the easiest one. So if you consider the installation fee, Maybe the Wifi kit will be the easiest one.
Image Quality
With the same resolution and FPS situation, the NVR is best and DVR is better, the Wifi kit is the lowest one.
Also, the highest resolution for the NVR kit is 8K even more, and the DVR can support up to 4K resolution, Limited by the bandwidth, and the Wifi quality, most WiFi kit is limited in 2MP and the frame rate is lower to 12/15fps.
Price
The hardware decides the price for each product, With the same resolution and standard quality, For the hardware, The NVR is the most expensive one and the DVR system is the lowest one. Consider the installation, The WIFI kit would be the cheapest one because of its installation.
Compatibility
For the DVR system, Just make sure the resolution is suitable and the camera signal (AHD/ TVI/ CVBS/ Analog) is correct. There is no problem with the connection. And till now the most receiver is 5 in 1, So if the system is not too old, you can get any manufactory’s product to have the system working.
For the NVR system. Although most receiver and camera manufactory clarify it can support Onvif, With the different versions of Onvif, It is hard to say it is 100% to compatibility. Also, the connection method is not easy, Almost no manufactory can support Plug and Play, It maybe needs a complex setting.
For the WiFi kit, Mostly we suggest you forget the compacity to different manufactory. Because of the WiFi character, the R&D arm protects the image data, The wifi system always needs serious security verification, So mostly the receiver can not directly connect to the cameras. Even though some manufactory clarify they support Onvif protocol. Still hard to have a successful connection.
