Situation 1:
When the recorder is turned on, there is a "beep" sound and a black screen after it is turned on.
In this case, there are several reasons cause this issue:
-
Check monitor and monitor wiring.
Try replacing the monitor wiring and replacing the monitor.
The maximum transmission distance of HDMI cable is 15 meters, and the maximum transmission distance of VGA cable is 20 meters. (Theoretical value)
-
Black screen caused by monitor resolution lower than recorder's output resolution.
Typically, when using the recorder for the first time, the issue arises from selecting an output resolution that is too high for the monitor to support.
In this case, we can try below steps:
a. Adjusting the recorder's output resolution:
To adjust the output resolution of the recorder, you can access the recorder's IP address through a web browser on your computer. Lower the output resolution settings or perform a basic factory reset on the NVR. Afterward, when restarting, select an appropriate output resolution.
Here is the instruction about how to access the web interface of your recorder:

b. Adjusting the monitor's resolution:
You can increase the monitor resolution, and if the monitor is already set to the maximum resolution, consider replacing it with a higher-resolution monitor.
-
Black screen (or stuck on startup logo) caused by abnormal hard drive:
Remove the hard drive from the recorder and run the test with an empty machine:
If the empty machine runs normally, the black screen issue is likely caused by a faulty hard drive. We recommend replacing the hard drive with a new one.
-
Black screen (or displaying the ANNKE logo) caused by channel masking:
This situation, where the mouse is displayed on the monitor, and right-clicking brings up the main menu and configuration interface, and the channel status appears normal in the channel management interface, is usually due to the channels being blocked.
In this case, you need to enter the recorder's live view page and enable channel preview.
Situation 2:
The recorder preview interface does not display images but shows text prompts.
-
The recorder screen shows a "Not enough decoding resource" prompt.
We can see the recorder's configuration page and setting, but the preview prompts "Not enough decoding resource."
a. Single (Large) screen shows Not enough decoding resource:
This error occurs when the resolution of the camera connected exceeds the maximum resolution supported by the recorder. It is necessary to lower the resolution of the connected camera.
Access the Configuration—Record—Parameters—Main Stream. Lower the resolution of the main stream to the resolution that the recorder can support.
b. Multiple (small) screen shows Not enough decoding resource:
This generally occurs when the resolution of multiple channels being previewed simultaneously exceeds the decoding capability of the recorder. It is necessary to lower the resolution and bitrate limits of the sub-stream. The recommended maximum bitrate for the sub-stream is suggested to be reduced to 512k, and the resolution is advised to be set to 4CIF or 480P. -
The recorder screen shows a "Stream type not supported" prompt.
NVR's channel status page, channel status is normal (green icon), but the preview prompts "Stream type not supported":
It is usually because the connected camera uses H.265 encoding, while the current NVR does not support H.265 decoding. In this case, you need to change the camera's encoding method to H.264.
Note: Remember to modify BOTH the main stream parameters and sub-stream parameters! -
Only for NVR, if there is only Annke Logo showing on the monitor:
In this situation, the camera's channel status should be abnormal, please have a check of the channel status by clicking the red icon, if the error message is "user is lock", "network abnormal" or "incorrect username or password", please reset the camera: -
Only for DVR, if there is only Annke Logo showing on the monitor:
If your cameras are connected to the power adapter via a splitter, please kindly remove the splitter and connect them directly to the power adapter see if it works.
Also, please replace the BNC cable and power adapter of the camera and plug it into another BNC port behind the recorder see if it works.
