Purpose: If your camera fails to detect people or other targets entering the monitored area, or frequently triggers alerts when no relevant target is present, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the motion detection issue.
1.Check the Motion Detection Settings
First, open the camera's settings in the mobile app and confirm that motion detection is enabled. Please also check the detection area, sensitivity level, and relevant alarm notification and recording settings.
If the camera misses motion events:
- Make sure the target passes through the configured detection area.
- Try increasing the motion detection sensitivity gradually.
- Confirm that the relevant alarm and recording settings are enabled.
If the camera triggers false alerts:
- Try lowering the motion detection sensitivity gradually.
- Adjust the detection area to exclude areas where unnecessary movement may occur.
- Avoid including trees, bushes, or other objects that move in the wind, as well as areas affected by frequent lighting changes, where possible.
After adjusting the settings, test the camera again to see whether detection performance improves.
Step 2: Check the Camera's Installation Environment
The camera's position, viewing angle, and surrounding environment may affect motion detection performance.
Please check the following:
- Make sure the camera is installed at a suitable position and angle for monitoring the intended area.
- Confirm that there are no obvious obstructions blocking the camera's view of the detection area.
- Walk through the monitored area at different distances and from different directions to test whether the camera can consistently detect movement.
- Observe whether false alerts occur when there is no person or other relevant target present.
These tests can help determine whether the issue is related to the detection settings, installation environment, or camera performance.
Step 3: Restart or Reset the System and Camera
If the issue persists after checking the settings and installation environment, please try restarting the N54WHF system, if applicable, and the affected camera.
If restarting does not help, you can try resetting the N54WHF system and/or the affected camera to their factory defaults, then configure the settings again and test motion detection.

If the issue persists after completing the troubleshooting steps above, please contact ANNKE Technical Support at support@annke.com by email and provide the following information:
- Motion detection video: A video clip showing the missed detection or false alert. For a missed detection, please include footage showing a person or other target entering the monitored area without triggering the expected event, if possible.
- Affected cameras: Confirm whether the issue affects all cameras or only specific ones.
- Detection settings: Screenshots of the motion detection settings, including the detection area and sensitivity level.
- Event time: The exact date and time when the issue occurred, if available.
- App account: If possible, provide the account used to log in to the app so our technical team can further investigate the issue.
This information will help us better understand the behavior and determine the appropriate next steps.
