Cause 1. The Hard Disk Drive doesn't meet requirements
Solution: Make sure your hard drive meets all requirements in the link: The Requirements of Hard Disk Drive (HDD) And you can check your device power requirement on the bottom of your device.
Cause 2. The Hard Disk Drive doesn't format
Solution: Check the status of HDD, if the HDD status says unformatted, click format.

Cause 3. The HDD Connection is wrong
Cause 4. The Hard Disk Drive is not powered up or something wrong
Solution: Install hard drive and put a hard drive close to your ear to check if you can hear some noise. One hour later, use hand to touch the hard drive to check if it is warm. If you can not hear any sound and surface of the hard drive is not warm, it can prove hard drive is not even powered up. Please share our results.
Cause 5. The Hard Disk Drive is faulty
Solution: If you plug the HDD in your device and it can't recognize or the recorder can't not record, Maybe the HDD is faulty, Try a spare HDD if you have.
Cause 6. The DVR/NVR Power Supply is insufficient or cannot be powered normally
Solution: Change an adapter of DVR/NVR or Unplug DVR/NVR from power and plug it again.
Cause 7. The DVR/NVRs cables or ports are faulty
